The Scaliger castle (also known as “Castello Scaligero” or “Rocca Scaligeri”) in Sirmione, at the southern end of Lake Garda, is a fascinating example of medieval fortress architecture. Built in the 14th century as an imposing lakeside fortification with towers and battlements, it once served as both a defensive structure and the residence of the Lords of Verona.
